A political party is a group of people sharing common policy preferences. These people seek, or have, political power for general purposes. In a democracy political parties participate in electoral campaigns

Manifesto (also called party platform): it’s a document where the political party lists the actions which it supports and considers important and appeals for having its candidates voted by the general public.
Learning objectives :

  • Understand the role of political parties within a Parliamentary democracy.
  • To distinguish between national political parties and European political groups.
  • To find own way to decide which is the most appropriate political party, according to own.
